Studio Policy and Agreement

This Studio Policy and Agreement is a legal contract between Studio and Student for private, individual music lessons provided by Studio to Student. The Student agrees to enrol with Studio for such lessons and abide by the provisions of the Studio Policy, as a condition to Studio providing music lessons to the Student.

Reschedule & Cancel Lesson

  • Rescheduling of lessons is permitted when a 24-hour notice is given in advance of the previously scheduled lesson time. 

    • Only TWO make-up lessons will be provided per term during the school holiday.

  • No make-up lesson will be made if students do not turn up to class without 24 hours notice. 

    • Special consideration for absence due to emergency or illness. Make-up lessons will be made at the studio‘s sole discretion. The studio reserves the right to charge extra fees appropriate for the make-up lessons.

  • Parents will be notified to send students home if they feel unwell in class. 

    • Make-up lessons will be arranged in these cases.

Fee & Payment

  • All fees are expected to be made by the deadline listed in the invoice. A late payment fee of $20 will be charged for all overdue payments.

  • Lessons start only when all fees have been settled.

  • Payments for music books, musical necessities, instruments and goods must be made by the deadline listed in the invoice. Failure of payment or/and late payment may result in an unwanted consequential delay in the arrival of these purchases.

  • Payments for applying to music competitions, exams and concerts must be made by the deadline listed in the invoice. Failure to pay within the given deadline will result in late payment charges and/or cancellation of applications.

Lesson

  • Lessons shall begin and finish in the designated time slots.

  • Please arrive punctually. Lesson time will not be made up due to late arrival unless special circumstances are pre-arranged by both parties. Students are encouraged to arrive Max. 5 mins before class.

  • Any questions regarding the lesson, they shall be asked within the last 5 mins of the lesson time. This is to ensure the following class can start promptly.

  • Most song/scale recordings can be found in books and online resources. $5 will be charged for each extra recording requested by individual students or their parents.

Student’s Responsibility

  • Be respectful to the studio instructor, other students and studio property.

  • Practise diligently. Teachers will advise practice duration.

  • Bring all required materials: music books, instruments and other essential items.

  • Please wait and leave quietly before and after lessons.

  • Please finish all the food and drinks before class. Make sure your hands and mouth are clean. Bring a water bottle if needed.

  • Do not touch foams in the studio room.

Parents and Siblings

  • Parents could attend and quietly observe the lesson in the studio room unless the parent’s presence affects the concentration of students. In these cases, parents may be asked to kindly wait outside until the end of the lesson.

  • Due to physical space limitations, non-student siblings are discouraged from staying in the studio to ensure a focused environment for the student. Exceptions shall be discussed with teachers.

  • Siblings who are students and are waiting or finished their lesson may stay in the waiting area during their sibling’s lesson.

Termination of Lessons

  • Students may terminate lessons for any reason. To terminate lessons, students must provide at least 1-week notice to the studio, during which time the tuition has been paid in full.

  • Studio/Teacher may also terminate lessons for any reason, at the sole discretion of Studio/Teacher. If Studio terminates lessons, tuition will be pro-rated up to the last lesson taken and a refund provided, if applicable. Likewise, at least 1-week notice will be provided to the students.
